Droopys is the ‘Bestie’ again as he claims Slaney Cup

Droopys Bestie claimed his second cup of the season and his second in a row as he claimed the Slaney Cup at Enniscorthy. Having won the Cup in Waterford, Bestie got the better of Vacume Wizard who was returning to action after over a year out. He’ll be one to keep an eye on for the rest of the year. Bestie meanwhile looks like a real Champion Stakes player.

There was better luck for the O’Sullivan’s in the Reserve Oaks Trial Stake as Vacume Jill took the honours. A daughter of Wallace Green and Vacume Honey, she got the better of Quattro Suzie in the final. Her best previous outing was reaching the third round in Listowel.

One dog it was great to see receive some silverware was Ravel Glory, a bitch of whom so much was expected, firstly in the 2012 Oaks and then last season. Owned by Conor McCambridge, Glory got the better of An Solas Gile in the final.

Sunfire Nova finally got a Trial Stake for Chris Ryan as he claimed his ticket at the fourth attempt. He’d reached the business end on all his outings to date reaching the final on his last outing at the County Carlow meeting. Beaten in the final was John Boyle’s Ashmore King, a dog who just last weekend was beaten in Cavan by the eventual winner Fingal Rory.
