Skellig ‘rises’ to the top in Roscommon

Skellig Sunrise has claimed his second All Age Cup of the season and moved onto 10 Champion Stake points after emerging victorious from Roscommon today. Based in Tubbercurry with Charlie Faul, Sunrise has already claimed the Cup in Ballinagar this season as well as running up to Pocketrocketben in June. Having missed out on the Champion Stakes last season he’s now got 10 points and enough to take his place in Powerstown.

The Cavan form seems to have been working out well over the last couple of days and Janeys Eoin further boosted it here claiming the Trial Stake. The son of Bexhill Eoin and Text Me Inn got the better of Sunbeam Oscar here for John Claffey. On his only previous outing her he reached the third round in Cavan.

The Roscommon Oaks Trial Stake was claimed by Kilkeale Queen after she got the better of Fortuna Delight in the final. Queen a daughter of Musical Time and Best View had previously appeared in Edenderry where she was beaten by Westport runner up Colina Loire and Rathkeale where she reached the semi-final.

In the Westport Derby Trial Stake Timmeys Bin claimed the Derby Trial Stake getting the better of Skelp Lad in the final. Owned by Noreen Hoban and Margaret McAuliffe, Timmys Bin had three previous outings, his best effort was in reaching the semi-final of the Dungannon Reserve Trial Stake.

The Oaks Trial Stake was won by Split Decision, a lady who reached the final of the Trial Stake in Cavan where she lost to Sotogrande. Here, the daughter of Kingsmill Dynamo and Oaks winner Fortuna, got the better of Colina Loire in the final for owners Jacqueline Farrell and Patricia Reidy.
