Frankel triumphs in Sevenhouses

Phoenix Frankel did his part in producing a cross meeting Phoenix double as he claimed the Seamus Hughes Memorial Cup in Sevenhouses today. The Corn Cuchullain winner in Dundalk as a pup had been beaten in the final in his last outing but came good today against bitch Catunda Magic in the final. He should probably head now to the Irish Cup in Limerick.

The Oaks Trial Stake was taken by Ballinakill Mary for her owners Masters Timmy Holland and Adam Dunford. The daughter of Johnny Casanova and Newinn Model got the better of Fuerty Wizard in the final. It was Wizard’s second final defeat this season. Lady on the otherhand was having her first outing.

Mungos Rio claimed the Reserve Derby Trial Stake and the fourth reserve spot at the National Meeting for Maurice Lawler. The son of Kyle James and Mungos Diamond got the better of Downton Shadow in the final. Downton was a semi-finalist in Glin at the beginning of the season and lost out in the final in Bandon.
