National Meeting Update- January 24th

I’d a bit of a break yesterday but the National Meeting update is back today and there are a few changes of note.

While I expect further withdrawals over the next few days and into next week, the ICC announced two withdrawals this morning.

Co. Cork Trial Stake winner Vedfield Kingpin has been withdrawn and In The Centre (Kingsmill Dynamo x Dedicated) twice a Trial Stake runner up gets a run.

Ballyduff Trial Stake winner and well fancied Gift Razor has also been withdrawn. The runner up in that Trial Stake With Grim Intent has gone onto win a Trial Stake and as a result first Reserve, Dungannon winner Bernish Jet will be included in Sunday’s draw.

That means the current order for Derby Reserves is as follows:

  1. Macroom- Shanavulin Magic
  2. Kilflynn- Killeagh Jingles
  3. Sevenhouses- Mungos Rio
  4. Cappoquin- Mucky Richard
  5. South Clare- Total Nutters
  6. Balbriggan- Dealbhna Mor
  7. Waterford- Young Dunphy
  8. Kilrush-Killimer- Sarasota Silver
  9. Johnstown and Urlingford- Eastern Shore
  10. Ennis-Clarecastle- Caileans Buddy

There have been a couple of notable betting moves over the last couple of days. Both Boylesports and BetBrowne have cut Sturdyandstaunch from 20-1 to 12-1 in Boyles case and 14-1 in Brownes. I’d noted his credentials 3 weeks ago so I’m feeling happy enough to have gotten a few quid on at the original price!

Needham Simple has also been cut for the Derby by the sponsors and is now a best priced 8-1 with them. They’ve also seen fit to cut the price on Kingsmill Rover from 9-1 to 8-1. Bold And Brazen too has been trimmed to 12s having been available at 14s.

In the Oaks Call Her Dresden is the only one that’s seen her price shorten in recent days, with two points knocked off from 14-1 to 12-1.
