Sunlight shines at Cashel

Skellig Sunlight claimed his debut Cup victory with a fine win at Cashel on Sunday afternoon getting the better of Cooga Darlan in the final. Sunlight, owned by the O’Driscolls in Glanmire and trained by Denis O’Driscoll is a son of Adios Alonso and Oaks winner Skellig Babe.

Loyal Lyric claimed her second victory in Tipperary this season having won the Premier Cup in Templetuohy in January. Lyric, owned by the Donnellys in county Tyrone, again showed that she’s a bitch of real class getting the better of Fota Castle in the final. Lyric had a litter of pups in the spring!

Kingcormac Fairy sprung something of a surprise in the final of the Derby Trial Stake beating Backstreet Boy. A popular local winner, Fairy is a son of Kyle James and Shes A Dazzler and is owned by Christy Ryan.

Ballyvery River and Fanore Ocean couldn’t be separated by the books prior to the final of the Oaks Trial Stake but it was the former, Ballyverry River who was to prove too strong for her opponent in the final. The daugher of Castle Pines and Quality and Dash was owned by Gearoid Cashman.
