Big three clear but Tank leads the chasing pack

The ‘Big Three’, Adios Alonso, Kyle James and Mafi Magic, are clear at the top of the sire rankings for Trial Stake pups at present but Thomas The Tank is hot on their heels. The ‘freshman’ sire enjoyed a productive weekend with an Oaks Trial Stake winner in Johnstown and Urlingford (where he also had the runner-up) and a Reserve Derby Trial Stake winner in Doon. He currently has 6 Trial Stake or Reserve Trial Stake winners in total and 3 runners-up.

At the top Mafi Magic also had a positive weekend with three Trial Stake winners with his litter to Class Attraction producing new Oaks joint-favourite Manntan Maple, his litter to Newinn All In threw the Tobar Na Malt the Oaks Trial Stake winner in Lixnaw and his litter to Tromora Babe produced Tromora Master, the Derby Trial Stake winner at the Kerry venue.

Lotto claims O’Carroll O’Connor Cup in Lixnaw

My earlier report seems to have done a disappearing act.

Amys Lotto proved too good for the field in the O’Carroll O’Connor All Age Cup as he got the better of Needham Simple this afternoon in Lixnaw. Having reached the semi-final of the Champion Stakes in February, Lotto, has had a quiet start to the season by his own high standards. Owned by Amy O’Connor, connections will be hoping this is only the start of his season!

The All Age Bitch Stake was taken by Simtam, her second such success of the season having previously won the Bitch Stake in Thurles. The daughter of Kyle James and Tullamoy Duchess had too much for Knockout Kate in the final. She’s owned by Doris and Liam Liddy.

The vibes were very strong for Tobar Na Molt the winner of the Oaks Trial Stake in Lixnaw. The superbly bred daughter of Mafi Magic and Newinn All In got the better of Cryptic Kerry in the final. Owned by John Best this was her first outing of the season.

In the Derby Trial Stake Tromora Master had too much for Wicked Monk in the final. The son of Mafi Magic and Tromora Babe reached the semi-final of the Milltown Malbay Trial Stake on his first appearance where he was beaten by eventual winner Timmie Trickibow. Master is owned by Kathleen Hogan.

Sirocco takes Cup as Boshski impresses in Oaks Trial Stake

Ocean Sirocco was declared winner of the Corn Dun Bleisce in Doon this afternoon after Aristo Dawn was withdrawn before the final. Tom Fitzgerald’s son of Kingsmill Dynamo and Ocean Tolula had gotten the better of Coolree Romeo in the semi-final to reach the decider against Aristo Dawn but the latter was unfortunately withdrawn.

There were plenty of head’s turned in Doon by the performance of Oaks Trial Stake winner Boshski. The daughter of Kyle James and Blades Of Glory had been as short as 1-3 overnight and is owned by Ailish Dilger. Her previous outing in Castleisland saw her reach the final of the Castlelisland Trial Stake where she was beaten by Churchill Queen.

The Reserve Derby Trial Stake in Doon was won by Ballymac Abraham who was making his first appearance of the season. Owned by Geraldine Keane, this son of Thomas The Tank and Ashtown Amy got the better of the fancied Magical Harvey in the final

Fingal the ‘Master’ of Johnstown and Urlingford

Fingal Master got the better of Skellig Sunlight to claim the Paddy Doyle Memorial Cup in Johnstown and Urlingford. Master, owned and trained by Pat Savage, was a Derby semi-finalist in Clonmel in February and overcame Corriga Rebel in the semi-final before accounting for Sunlight. Sunlight moves onto 6 Champion Stakes points as Master registers his first four of the season in his second appearance.

In the All Age Bitch Stake Split Decision registered her second victory of the season as she got the better of Thats My Tail in the final. Split Decision, a daughter of Kingsmill Dynamo and Oaks winner Fortuna, won the All Age Bitch Stake in Loughrea in October and made it two wins from two appearance with today’s success.

In the Oaks Trial Stake there was success for Jeffys Twinkle, a daughter of Thomas The Tank and Lady Twinkletoes, as he she got the better of Killahys Kate in the final. This was Jeffys Twinkle’s first appearance in a Trial Stake. The April whelp is owned by William Cunningham.

The Reserve Derby Trial Stake was won by Eoin Condon’s Why Tanyard Bebo, a son of Adios Alonso and Why Tanyardpenny. This was the May pups first outing of the season and he ran well to get the better of Bigbadleroybrown in the final.
