Downtown James does the business for O’Donavon in Knockgraffon

Michael O’Donavon’s Downtown James proved to be the best dog in the field today at Knockgraffon as he claimed the Knockgraffon Cup from Father Flash. The son of Kyle James and Funny Honey had been a 5-1 shot overnight but he advanced to the final past Eastern Shore before knocking of Father Flash to claim the silverware.

Brendan Matthews didn’t run City Beauty as a pup but she came good on Sunday as she won the All Age Bitch Stake in Knockgraffon from Shanballa Sawn. The daughter of Razor Ashmore and Latest Gamble helped continue the good all age form for the Newry based trainer.

Reserve Feel My Pulse helped make a good day great for Dan Brassil. Having won the Cup in Rathkeale with Avenue Ranger, Brassil also owned and trained the son of Kyle James and Madtogoagain to the Trial Stake in Knockgraffon. He got the better of Duarigle Darwin in the final.

There were some choicely bred finalists in the Oaks Trial Stake and it was Ballyverry Baby a daughter of Kyle James and Oaks winner Mountain Guest got the better of Rush For Gold a daughter of Kyle James and Oaks runner-up Emmas Goldrush. Ballyverry Baby is owned by Gearoid Cashman. She had previously reached the semi-final in Castleisland where she had been beaten by Churchill Queen, the winner.
