Hotspot too hot to handle in Enniscorthy

Having won the Champion Working Members Stake in Sevenhouses last season Hotspot proved himself too hot to handle in the Slaney Cup in Enniscorthy as he got the better of Bango Malone. Owned by Paul O’Dwyer Hotspot is a son of Droopys Scolari and Carlsbush Jill.

There was an all Matthews All Age Bitch Stake final that saw Late Drama declared the winner as pup City Mouse was withdrawn. Late Drama won her Trial Stake late last season at Ballymena and has already had success this season having won the Bitch Stake in New Ross last month. She climbs the All Age Bitch Standings to go top with 8 points.

The Derby Trial Stake was taken by Ashwood Alonso, a son of Adios Alonso and Ashwood Dee. He proved too strong for Annual Assembly. Ashwood is owned by John and Helen Doyle and had one previous outing at Castleisland.

In the Oaks Trial Stake, Sunfire City took the honours as she got the better of Runaway Trudy. The daughter of Central City and Moonveen Melba is a July whelp and had failed to raise a flag on either of her two starts to date. She is owned by Judy Mackey and Christopher Ryan.
