Geordie does the business in the Slievenamon Cup

Geordie Casanova, claimed the Slievenamon Cup in Crohane today for owner Mark Mulholland and trainer Martin Donnelly, giving them the dream start to the year. Both owner and trainer have been in the winners enclosure in recent weeks and they’ll be delighted with Geordie’s performance as he saw off Blue Beruki and Wallers Lot Matt enroute to the victory.

There was a feeling last night that the All Age Bitch Stake would be between Jogon Jeanie and Droopys Sugar. As it happened it was Jeanie, a litter sister of Timber House who emerged victorious for Mark O’Donavon and Otto Keures. The daughter of Thomas The Tank and Lady Twinkletoes saw off Gortmelia Daze to claim the silverware.

In the Derby Trial Stake, Amazing King, became the second member of his litter this week to qualify for Clonmel as he claimed his golden ticket. The son of Johnny Casanova and Wise Lady was a 6-4 overnight favourite to win the stake and he made no mistake beating Honey Ringo in the final. He is owned by Jennifer and Conor O’Donnell.

Neil Herbert’s Juicemelucy also claimed a ticket to Clonmel as she emerged as the Oaks Trial Stake winner. The April daughter of Wallace Green and Intervention was making her first outing of the season and was a 3-1 shot overnight. She got the better of Marshals Kendall in the final.
