Needham keeps it Simple to win Corn Ceatharlach

Needham Simple justified his short priced favouritism to win the Corn Ceatharlach today at the Co. Carlow meeting. Owned by Nora Raleigh and trained by Brendan Matthews the son of Bexhill Eoin and Gadget Girl takes silverware for the third consecutive season, having seen off Not Caught Yet in the deciding buckle.

The All Age Bitch Stake went to Uptown Cailin, as she got the better of Isabelles Charm in the final. The daughter of Adios Alonso and Uptown Angel, claimed the honours for the First Time Syndicate, following up her success in Abbeydorney. He litter sister Legion Spirit also claimed the honours in Nenagh for a unique family double.

The Derby Trial Stake saw Howdododo, a son of Johnny Casanova and Your Symbolic, take the title for the Cheese and Chips Syndicate. In his first outing of the season Howdododo got the better of Coshair Oggie in the deciding buckle. Howdododo had been a hot favourite entering the final and it’ll be interesting to see how he’s priced up tomorrow.

Hey Ma, claimed the golden ticket for the Oaks for Darren Holmes. The daughter of Razor Ashmore and Miss Candy Floss saw off the reserve Honey Valentine in the final. This lady had previously reached the third round in Crohane and improved in the interim to claim the honours.
