Call Up Pal climbs Champion Stakes table with Mitchelstown victory

There was movement on top of the Champion Stakes table today as Call Up Pal and Kyle Fionn both added to their points total. Call Up Pal, owned by Noreen and Kieran McManus and trained by Gerry Holian, claimed victory, his second of the season after success at Miltown-Malbay. He moves onto 8 points and up a congested Champion Stakes table. Kyle Fionn, now moves to the top of the table having secured another two points for finishing runner-up here. A winner at Limerick City and Regional, he will now, injury pending, take his place in the Champion Stakes.

Black Barracuda was well fancied before coursing and the son of Kingsmill Dynamo and Blades of Glory justified that position as he saw of Earl Of Clare to win the Derby Trial Stake. Owned by Ailish Dilger, Black Barracuda made his debut at Castleisland where he was beaten in the semi-final by Exceed and Excel (who is still standing after Day One in Lixnaw).

The Oaks Trial Stake was claimed by Mad Moment, a 2-1 shot overnight. Having won a duffer in Miltown Malbay, the daughter of Mafi Magic and Barrow Princess extended her winning run to book her place in Clonmel. She got the better of Skellig Sky in the final, the daughter of Skellig Way and Skellig Tivoli making her debut. Mad Moment is owned by Sharon Sexton.
