Carrowkeal Jonjo, gave Kathleen Murphy her second Cup winner in a week, as he was declared winner of the Fitzgerald Cup in Glanworth this afternoon. The son of Kyle James and Caoimhes Chill, moves onto 6 Champion Stakes points having run up the Rakes Of Mallow earlier in the season. A 4-1 shot overnight he saw off the better fancied Macroney Rebel and then Cillowen Bolt to reach the final.
The Oaks Trial Stake saw Offherrocker take the honours for Evan Houlihan and William Pardy. The daughter of Kyle James and Brencal Express got the better of Lingering Grace in the decider. The 10-1 outsider overnight, had won a duffer in Ballinagar in October and lost out in the second round in Nenagh in her only other outing.
The Derby ticket was won by Creamery Wonder, owned by Anthony Mullins. The son of Newinn Wonder and Chance Me Betty had been a 4-1 shot with Brownes overnight and his cause was helped by the absence of odds on favourite Needham Frankel this morning. Creamery saw off the challenge of Rushview Tom in the final. He had two previous outings impressing in Rathcormac where he lost out in the third round and losing in the first round in Mallow.
