Ballinbola and Chevalto claim last Powerstown places

The final places in the 2016 National Coursing meeting have been allocated following the conclusion of the now traditional final meeting of the qualifying season in Macroom.

The final Boylesports Derby pass for the year went to Ballinbola Mill, a son of Kingsmill Dynamo and Moat Lady, as he got the better of Norfolk Shore in the deciding course to claim victory. A semi-finalist earlier in the season in Mallow, the Brendan Murphy and Seamus Whelan owned dog, came good seeing off Newyork Tom and Aghaburren Class enroute to the final.

Chevalto, claimed the last place in the Horse and Jockey Hotel Oaks, as she got the better of Julia Estremoz in the final of the Oaks Trial Stake. The daughter of Kyle King and Amys View, owned by Tom Houlihan and Chloe Horgan, Chevalto had impressed well at the Co. Kerry meeting reaching the semi-final at Christmas.

The withdrawal of Duarigle Darwin before coursing today, meant that the top of the Champion Stakes table would remain unchanged, but it was Galbally Echo who put his best foot forward to win the Castle Hotel Cup from Derrylough Henry. A Trial Stake winner last season in Mallow, Echo, is owned by Donal Keating and Brian Sheehan.
