Kerry Abu claims victory in the Kingdom

Kerry Abu claimed the opening All Age Cup of the season with victory in the Stephen Fuller Memorial Cup today at Kilflynn. Owned by Sean Counihan, the son of Central City and Sion Hawk got the better of Highland Hunter in the final. Kerry Abu’s effort last season was reaching the semi-final of the Listowel Trial Stake. Under the new points system for the Champion Stakes Kerry Abu will receive 8 points with runner up Highland Hunter getting 5.

In the All Age Bitch Stake, Lineroad Lamar took the honours as she saw off Isnt She Lovely in the final for Collette O’Regan. The beautifully bred daughter of Wallace Green and Class Attraction had shown potential last season but she showed that the summer had brought about some improvement, winning the stake from Isnt She Lovely, a bitch who reached the 3rd round of the Oaks.

The Oaks Trial Stake honours went to Amys Angel, a daughter of Thomas The Tank and Amys View. Owned by Amy and Laura Costello, the white and black January bitch will be worth keeping an eye on for the rest of the year.

Mouseinthehouse took the Reserve Trial Stake for Eugene and Eoghan  Costello, a fine achievement for a late May pup so early in the season. The son of Razor Ashmore and Maggie Dan saw of Ballinvosherig in the deciding course.
