Rose upsets the boys to claim Belsize Cup

Locally owned bitch Killucan Rose upset the boys to claim the Belsize Cup in Westmeath today. The daughter of Johnny Casanova got the better of District Twelve to take the title. It’s a second success on the field for this lady who won the Oaks Trial Stake here 12 months ago. It was a welcome local win for working member Kevin Carr.

Reikers Island was a well backed winner of the Derby Trial Stake with the Gerry Holian trained runner likely to take a prominent position in the Derby market after his victory here. The son of Adios Alonso and Blades of Glory was expected to go well here and duly did for Dr Paddy O’Kelly. Reikers got the better of Urker Peejays in the final.

The Oaks Trial Stake saw the Denny O’Donovan and Davy Reynolds owned Shournagh Line take the ticket for Clonmel. A daughter of Thomas The Tank and Dale Roisin, the February whelp saw off the challenge of Personal Gains to take the honours.
