Seaside Sophie claimed the Oisin Cup today in Mitchelstown getting the better of Norfolk Shore in the final. Owned by Anthony Hussey, Seaside Sophie is a daughter of Adios Alonso and Way Back When.Sophie had reached a couple of semi-finals last season, most notably in Freshford and at Wexford.
The Derby Trial Stake saw Ballinveala Boru continue what has been a good start to the season for Killimor Matey as he became his fourth qualifier for Powerstown Park. Boru, owned by Vincent Purtill, was making his first appearance of the season and he got the better of Galevalley Hero in the final. He is the second son of Ballinveala Wren to qualify for Clonmel.
The Reserve Oak Trial Stake saw Wewilltaketwo, a daughter of Mafi Magic and Gentle Angel claim success from Sunfire Solas. The Patrick Treacy owned lady, had previously reached the third round at Ennis- Clarecastle, where she was beaten by winner Ougham Honey.
