Ballyhast Flyer claimed the Gold Cup in Lifford this afternoon as he saw off Rory For Glory in the final. The Seamus Daly owned runner had been withdrawn from the semi-final in Milltown Malbay on his last outing. He is a son of Blueview Sam and Ballymore Becks.
The Derby Trial Stake went to the fancied Askcharlesoliver who had been withdrawn on his last start when reaching the final in Crohane. A second successive Derby Trial Stake winner at this meeting after Im From Rio’s success last season for owner and trainer Cathal Magee, he is a son of Kyle Leigh and Good Morning Mam. A May whelp, he got the better of June pup Eshwary Dawn in the final. He is yet another winner to emerge from the Westmeath Trial Stake won by Reikers Island.
The Oaks Trial Stake was won by Society, a daughter of Adios Alonso and Trionas Joy. Owned by Judy McCusker this dark brindle lady was making her second outing of the season having gained some experience at the Thurles and Dungannon meetings. She got the better of Elusive Gold in the final.
