Dotty springs a surprise in Gorey

Lobnamna Dotty claimed the All Age Cup in Gorey today as she got the better of Bonding Session in the final. The daughter of Thomas The Tank and Call Posie, owned by Claire Eustace and Cian Turner, was known as Clondoty Rita last season and her previous best result was winning a duffer at Templetuohy. This was the second final Bonding Session has reached this season having run up the stake at Ennis- Clarecastle.

The Derby ticket on offer went to Ashwood Tank, a son of Thomas The Tank and Ashwood Sarah. Owned by Hughie and Marguerite Doyle, he was making his third start of the season having reached a semi-final in New Ross where he lost to winner Mulboy Hunter and the second round in Clonmel. He got the better of the Brendan Matthews owned and trained City Back, a semi-finalist in Carlow, in the final.

The Reserve Oaks Trial Stake went the way of Did You No, a daughter of Newinn Wonder and Summer Skellig. This lady, owned by Hugh Heaney, had reached the third round in Cavan on her only previous start losing to winner Try Colour there. She’s the second winner this week to have been beaten by Try Colour, Old Kilcullen winner Illwaitforyou also fell to the same lady.
