Killeagh Sunny (late Chapel Lane) showed his class to emerge Walsh Cup winner in Ballyragget this afternoon at the North Kilkenny meeting. A Trial Stake winner in Borris-in-Ossory last season he reached the last 16 of the Derby last season. He got the better of Alcar who showed improved form on his recent appearance at Old Kilcullen to reach the final here. Owned by David Casey and Con Rogers, Sunny might get another out to claim a place in the Champion Stakes.
Astana Rubie put her place right in the middle of the Champion Bitch Stake reckoning with another victory following on from her victory in Knockgraffon as she got the better of Moat Missy. The daughter of Central City and Beautys Grace has been prolific over the last season since winning in Waterford as a pup. She reached the third round of the Oaks and the final of the Bitch Stake in Nenagh this season just falling short to Skellig Sky.
The Derby Trial Stake went the way of Wings Of Desire, owned by the N-B-N Syndicate.
