Angel shows that class is permanent

Serene Angel showed that class is permanent as he claimed the Hitchens Post Cup today at Borrisoleigh, two years after claiming the Corn na Feile at Abbeyfeale. In his third season, the son of Adios Alonso and Uptown Angel was much too good for the field, and the Irishtown Syndicates dog got the better of Drumbane Razor in the final.

Another third season winner was Blizzard Maria, a daughter of Mafi Magic and Class Attraction. The Con Guiney owned and trained lady was collecting her second Cup of the season, quite the turn around for a lady who had failed to raise a flag on her first five outings this season. Blizzard Maria got the better of Accessibility in the final.

The Derby ticket on offer went the way of Don Cossack owned by the Cuirt and Phuca Syndicate. Don Cossack, a son of Newinn Wonder and Latest Gamble, had run twice previously this seaon, his best effort a semi-final appearance at Glanworth where he lost out to Newinn Oak. He got the better of Private Pulse, a runner up in Johnstown and Urlingford in the final.

The Oaks Trial Stake went the way of Coolree Leader, a daughter of Eshwary Leader and Coolree Keeper, owned by Eugene Glennon. She got the better of Lisdaleen Twiggy in the final. Coolree was making her fourth outing of the season having performed admirably on her three outings to date, reaching a semi-final and two third rounds.
