Howdododo does the business at Centenary Dundalk meeting

Howdododo, the TA Morris winner from the 2016 National Meeting made no mistake to catapult himself into Champion Stakes contention with victory in the Corn Cuchullain at Dundalk. He had to do it the hard way in the final coming from behind to shade the verdict from the game Choctaw Squaw. Owned by the Cheese and Chips Syndicate – the Carr family- in Westmeath, the son of Johnny Casanova and Your Symbollic added the Corn Cuchullain to the Cup won in Balbriggan earlier in the season. His only defeat this year was to Tractorman in the Carlow semi-final. The runner up Choctaw Squaw saw herself move into the Champion Bitch Stake places claiming the 6 points and €1,700 on offer.

The Derby Trial Stake went the way of Only The Lonely, a son of March Is On and Joint Account. Owned by Carol Deery, Only The Lonely was making his fourth outing of the season, he best of those was a final defeat in New Ross to Mulboy Hunter. He got the better of Stowaway James in the final, a dog who had been a warm order favourite on the final morning and who had previously run well in East Donegal.

The Oaks Trial Stake was claimed by Rosskeen Rising, a daughter of Adios Alonso and Skellig Babe. Owned by Gertrude Donnelly, Rising got the better of Go On Mavis in the final. This was her second outing of the season, having previously lost in the second round in Trim to runner-up Ardmore Magic. Rosskeen got the better of Dark Brown Hair the Dungannon runner-up in the semi-final.
