About

The Crooked Slipper is first a sports blog.

Slipper will focus primarily on greyhounds, horse racing and anything else that may excite or annoy me.

With a bit of luck there will be room for contributors in the very near future to make the voices and opinions on the blog as diverse and representative as possible.

You can get in touch with the blog by emailing: thecrookedslipper@gmail.com.

  1. Hi crooked, have to say this is a really great site. Very informative I particularly like the list showing trial stakes winners to come out of each stake.

As a relative newbie to irish coursing is there anyway you could compile a list of coursing clubs with the distance of their fields?

    • I share your frustrations. It’s a pet peeve of mine that such information isn’t readily available.

Short of travelling to and measuring each field there’s no easy way of getting ‘accurate’ information. There’s a useful thread on Greyhound Nuts under Coursing Fields and Coursing Site links called “Coursing field Lengths – work in progress.” That the best source of information for now.

If I had my way each club when advertising their meeting would include the distance from slippers hut to escape on their advert, to give some indication of field length but I don’t see anyone in a rush to provide that information.

Sorry I can’t be of more help.
