Ardmore Rusty claimed a full ticket for the National Meeting in Clonmel as he won the Westport Derby Trial Stake today. Owned by Noreen Hoban, the Ardmore prefix has been associated with the club for years and having already secured the Reserve Derby Trial Stake at Cavan, Rusty got the better of Carlow beaten finalist Gingerbread Sam in the final.
In the Oaks Trial Stake there was success for Micheal Kilcoyne’s Ougham Ellen, a daughter of Kyle James and Ougham Miss. Ellen, a May whelp, got the better of Up The Saints in the final to book her place in Clonmel. She had previously run at Limerick City and Dungannon where she was beaten by Castletowngeoghegan runner up Foxhill Annie in the opening round.
